What Is Sculptra?

Is Sculptra Right for You?

The procedure works to counteract the appearance of sunken cheeks, hollow eyes, facial indentations, wrinkles, and more. The most ideal candidates include men who are most concerned with the aforementioned conditions, most specifically a loss of volume due to aging or excessive weight loss. Patients are typically middle-aged, however, individuals of all ages experience a decrease in collagen and fat tissue of the face. How Does Sculptra Work?

Depending on the area of focus and the required amount of Sculptra vials, male patients can expect injections to take roughly between 15 to 45 minutes on average. The Sculptra injection is made right in the dermal layer of the skin, and results in male patients will begin immediately but will take several months to fully develop (as new collagen forms).

Dr. Steinbrech will make some initial marks on the skin with an eyeliner pencil to identify the points of injection. Then the liquid itself is injected into the target area via an ultra-fine needle with minimal discomfort. Results & Recovery Time

While it is common to experience mild redness or minor swelling immediately following Sculptra injections, these symptoms disappear in just a few days. Unlike more invasive surgeries, most male patients can resume normal activities immediately following the treatment (with perhaps a 24-hour delay in strenuous physical activity to decrease the likelihood of post-treatment bruising). It is advised, however, that patients avoid medications or supplements that can act as a blood thinner for the first 48 hours. It is advised that male patients use ice packs for the first day if any discomfort persists. Sculptra results typically last for up to 2 to 3 years.
